Reitze, England -- 7:00 AM Thus far, it had been a pretty average day. Jess was just doing her usual thing, bumming around and killing time until the morning rush ebbed off and it was marginally safer to move around. She didn't have much interest in foraging until after the morning rush hour had ended and people began to slow down for the day... that was probably still a good few hours away. In the meantime, she was content to just sit back in her doorway, watch an old gray tomcat, and hide out in the back alleyways for a bit. She'd spotted a soup kitchen a couple of blocks over; she'd probably drop over and grab a bite in a while. And then everything was quickly turned on its head. A staccato burst of explosions caused her to start in surprise. Jess' eyes darted from the cat to the commotion... and almost couldn't believe what she saw. It was far too surreal to be true... but it was. Barreling down the alleyway towards her was a young girl... couldn't be older than twelve... and hot on her heels was another guy dressed in what looked like army fatigues. He had a long gun in his hand, was screaming incessantly, and squeezed off another round of bullets into the air. What in holy horseradish was going on here? There wasn't time to contemplate anything, because the guy abruptly adjusted his aim, pointed the gun at the girl's back, and made to squeeze the trigger. Jess found herself up and moving instantly. "Look out!" The words left her lips in a scream. Jess hit the girl full on from the side and bodily scooped the child aside. The two went flying sideways and landed on the ground, hard. She tried to cover the girl with her own body. There was just enough time to wonder what on earth was going on before a stream of bullet tore up the city street.

That was a gun ... as in a gun with bullets!
Kyle immediately stopped what he was doing, dropping the little polystyrene box of chips into the lap of a dishevelled looking hobo and then heading down the street, turning into an alley to face the back of a gang of fatigue wearing thugs.
"Hey!" Kyle shouted, pulling his own sidearm out of his jacket and clicking off the safety "On the floor!"

London hadn't done anything in particular for Dillon. There was no doubt about it now wherever he came from before it was most certainly in the States. None the less he was here for a few weeks before he was supposed to catch a flight to Japan to meet up with Ziggy and Dr. K again. So he walks, as he always does trying to fond something to help him find his past or make a future.
He passes by the scene of the incident and turned into the alley as well. He pauses when he sees Kyle draw his gun and decides to hang back to the side for now. No need to cause some poor bastard cop a headache he doesn't need by bringing cyborgs into normal street crime.

Oh, this guy had to be kidding. Jess stared at the newly arrived 'hero' in amazement. The fatigue-wearing fanatic had a semi-automatic rifle, and this guy was expecting to stop him with a handgun? Never mind the fact that he was outnumbered three to one.
The problem was, once their 'hero' was mowed down, there wouldn't be much to stop her the guys from just mowing her down. If she were transformed, then Bluejay Form could wipe the floor with these three pretty easy... but she wasn't about to do that unless there was no other course of action to take. Right now, there was another course of action she could take... they needed a distraction.
"Hang in there..." Jess whispered to the girl as she rose to a crouch. "... we're about to make a break for it."
Without waiting for a reply, Jess' hand lashed out and snatched a trash can lid from its perch. She snapped her arm about, sending her makeshift frisbee spiraling forward through the air, then she snatched up the girl and took off running. The trash can lid sailed across the alleyway and smacked solidly into the side of the gray tomcat.
The fatigued gun-toting maniacs were so on edge that they responded to the cat's angry yelp by spinning slightly end emptying their ammunition clips into the cat's gut. Jess felt slightly bad about that, but she was far more concerned with grabbing the young girl and running for the end of the alleyway. She had to give the hero credit, though, if that guy hadn't thrown off the villains by showing up, that sort of stunt never would have worked.
"Maybe we should retreat now?" She shouted to the hero. "I don't like these odds!"
(OoC: For clarity's sake, 'hero' is actually Kyle.)

Ahead of the two, a mirror flickered quietly, before a jean-covered leg shot out and clotheslined one of the two thugs, making him drop his weapon. Then the rest of the figure stepped out, in a black vest, blue shirt and black jeans, with her combat boots. "Damien! I see you could use some help." Kase said, revealing herself, wondering whether to sort this one out or take off after the other one.

Dillon sighs as the other Detective drives off the other thugs. The last remaining one finds itself the victim of a cybernetic augmented punch to the ribs. "Sorry, I can't let a perfectly good goon go to waste Officer."

Kyle nodded, getting out his phone. "Thanks ..." He said to Dillon, putting his gun away and dialling 999 into his phone. "Everyone alright!?" He called out as his phone rang.

"Who are these creeps anyways? They seem a bit heavily armed for normal street crime particular here." Dillon asks pointing to the rifle one of the thugs dropped.

Okay... Jess was forced to admit that her sarcastic assessment of the hero's capabilities was a bit... off. Granted, it was his friends that had done most of the work, but... uh... still... that was pretty danged awesome in a mook-mashing sort of way.
Her mad dash slowed to a stop as she realized the danger had passed. Then, in response to the question, she checked the girl in her arms: "Are you alright?"
She received a quick nod and some mumbled reassurance. Since there wasn't any sign of obvious trauma, she had to accept the girl's response as the truth.
"I think so." She announced to whoever was in the general area. "Um... yeah... thanks for the save, there... Dunno what we would have done without you."

"Right, you two wait until the police come, tell them what happened," Kyle muttered "I'm gonna go help Damien,"
Kyle didn't answer the question with words, but the fact he was running off with a handgun after Damien. He seemed alright at least ...

Dillon sighed and leaned against the building. He looked up at Jane and smirked. "Not everyday a normal cop has to bail out a Rider. Do you know who those guys were?"

Kase nods, "Cyanide...people using the Ventaran equivalant were often spies with handlers who wanted no links back to them, or traces of what they were doing." she said, falling in beside Damien and vaulting over a long table, landing on her feet as they went back to Kyle. "You and I both know there's a group like that here." she added, not mentioning their name.

"Probably. Who else would act so openly?" Kase asked, using logic before they turned the corner to see the young man...and she crossed her arms under her chest, deciding to play the "good cop" part while Damien did the usual routine. At least, that was her instinct.

Jess breathed a quick sigh of relief that the bulk of the danger had long passed. She turned her attention to the young girl and found her more than a bit shaken up. So she hefted the child up and held her in a hug, hoping to show the child that it would all be okay. The girl didn't seem to reject the notion of comfort, so Jess felt no need to abandon the gesture.
"Beats the bananas out of me." She was a bit lost on who was the cop and who was the Rider and what the guy was talking about beyond inquiring about who their assaulter was. "I'm just bumming around, minding my own business when I hear gunshots and see this girl being chased... That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject."
And now people were shouting at each other. Great. She took a step back out of the line of verbal fire and rested her back against the wall. She'd let them sort things out before she did anything else.... She just hoped that one of these guys was a cop... it would make things down the line a little easier.
Go figure, her actually wishing for a cop to show up. The world must be ending.

Looking at Jess's confused expression Dillon takes it upon himself to explain what's going on a little better.
First he points to Kyle. "Cop."
Then to Kase and Damien. "Detectives and Riders."
Then to himself. "Out of town Cop and Ranger."
Finally to the thugs on the ground. "Idiots who picked a bad day to murder a woman."
"Any questions?"
