"But what?" Joe asked.
"I was there. You ended up bringing me along when I saw everyone with access to an escape route die. All there, in the throne room, where my brother was going to be executed for killing the man I was supposed to someday wed - Zone, eldest son of the Lannaster family - and only I could have escaped. I didn't see their deaths...but none of them could have gotten away! I...I don't know what to think," she cast her eyes down at the thoughts of her family's deaths, and of her beloved brother, Pieter's, death and all he had done to help save her from a future with a terrible man.
