Where Were Your RP Roots?

Well, I just found out that the Code Lyoko Veterans forum, formerly the Official English Code Lyoko Forums, is closing down soon. For almost six years, the site was my home before I joined Henshin Heroes. I left a eulogy for the forum on the site's official facebook page today, thanking the users there for shaping me into the RPer you know me as here.

That said, what were your RP roots? Where'd you get your current style of RPing?

A bit of BZPower, not much, primarily the Official Oban Star Racers forums. My style slowly refined on there over the years, and I'm embarrassed to nostalgically go back and look at some old RPGs and see how bad it was.

Then I made the Rescue Force RPG, met Cross and Kaisu, and Cross made this.

My roots go far back....started out in Star Trek sci-fi RP, did that for a number of years...sometimes there'd be four full paragraphs a post, if it was that good...I joined a Star Wars RP too, which holds the record for the longest RP that ever went on for me, it took about four months to finish a thread once, and at the end there was a joint post of probably 12 to 15 paragraphs or so.

Then I found an RP group on Fanfiction.net that was into Kamen Rider, and joined them, then Clive sent a random message to me there, and I found my way here after a while. Wish I'd been sooner, but yeah, that's my story.

P.S. I've done some weird things that the GM would allow, like crossing over something with star trek. That's how I got to use a Rider system in one and a lightsaber in another., however improbable that was. But I made it work, like a boss.

I actually started out on Yugiohcardmaker.net xP

I was incredibly bored (I was in Korea and had nothing to do) and typing in random things on Google until I found a *ahem* Yugioh Card Maker. And then to save my cards I had to register, so I did so. Soon after I was led to the forums and as I browsed around I found the roleplaying section, and I got sucked in. It was just threads, but they were good. If anyone followed my etymology on Skype, that's where I adapted the name 'Kaisu' and I became well known there, in the Fanfiction (Now titled 'Creative Writing', to be less misleading) and Roleplaying sections. That site became my nest for a few years, but now I'm a bit inconsistent in my visits. The site's past it's Golden Age.

Anyway, admist watching anime on Youtube, watching animated children's shows and the like, I found Rescue Force (Dubbed). So I looked it up on Youtube, and I found Ren's YT account where he had been uploading the Tomica Episodes, all the way up to the Fire, save for the last few episodes. Anyway, that's where I found the link to the Rescue Force RPG. There I met Ren and Cross, and we started our roleplay. I was introduced to Henshin Heroes by them, and here I am.

How did I get my start? I started out with some RPs on the now defunct Japan Hero forums, then I moved onto a website called RPG Forums Online that was a pure RP forum. I also did RPing on some other sites; HJU, BZP, TFW, Fanfiction and Canterlot.net. Then I found my way to this forum and the people here. Never looked back.

Yeah, I got to this place, and met Ren and Kaisu, from Ren's Rescue Force RP which served as a sort of gateway into RP's about Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Ben's website (Shapes In The Dark), Hell I'm even on a website based on a My Chemical Romance album!

I've just managed to get my real life friends into tabletop RPG's but we haven't done anything ... yet.

I've been playing various sites for years. I've played RPGs for Danny Phantom, Naruto, Bleach, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and others. I'd rather not look back on some of my early games.
