He wasn't aware she considered her Contract Monsters so closely to herself, "Marilen...is a complicated woman. I don't think she used him. She cared about him, and just chose to move on," he said, defending his cousin.

He wasn't sure if there was a reason for putting him back on this train of thought or not. Was she avoiding something? He doubted it.
He was about to speak when he saw something ahead. It was a black figure, tall, lanky, with crimson marks along the face and torso. It was offsetting, to say the least.

It was gone. Suddenly gone.
Kiriha tensed, letting go of her hand, "The hell is that?" he muttered, listening, looking, but there was nothing anywhere. He looked back, seeing it standing a distance behind them.

It was gone again and Kiriha felt a burning sensation on his chest. He cried out and fell to his knees, glancing up to see it standing before them again, out of reach, unable to make out many details.

"I don't know..." he said, with actual fright in his voice. He pulled at his shirt, ripping some buttons off as he tore it open. There was a black mark across the center of his chest in the shape of a spiral.
