Try both.

From my point of view a lot of them need images to go with them. And the monsters should really be orange since they have effects.

Effect monsters don't have any "Flavour text" either.

And nor do Spell/Trap cards. Also, the fact that you've done things like [Ninja], [Human] and such is an instant no.

I was always okay with that actually (And anyway types are effectively moot since Archetypes came in (Which I loathe with a passion)). But yeah, I think they'd work better as [Warrior] type rather than ninja or human.

No, not really. Types are still an effective and widely supported way to target monsters and making custom types is just a taboo in the YCM community.
