Think they got a little confused.
But... New Zealand's already got a blow to the online piracy, where any author can make a claim, and if a user's internet history shows a download of a copyright infringing file, then they are instantly given a strike. Three strikes and you either have no internet access for a year (Or something), or pay a bill of several thousand dollars. The only way that you can get out of a strike is by facing the owner of the product, with no legal support for the person trying to defend themselves. Well, that causes them to defend themselves, but yeah.
At any rate... Yeah, I think we should. I don't really understand the entirety of SOPA, but yeah.

I have a problem with the Stop Online Piracy Act because it is badly written full of loop holes and, as a law, utterly broken.
Essentially, it allows the US Government to extradite and arrest people for either actually infringing on copyright or say ... singing a cover of a Katy Perry song into a camera phone and putting it online. Such a law can also result in taking down the offending website entirely, currently a youtube video is disabled if it uses intellectual property, if SOPA gets through then the website is deleted instead.
Also if this goes through then we'll already lose a large portion of the internet, then the UK will have to follow suit as will every other country ...

Eh, they tried this before. A few times. They'll try, they'll fail, and they'll give up for another 5-10 years. It's a cycle.

Besides, the bill's credibility is kinda hurt with the writer of SOPA found violating copyright.

Good news, everyone! SOPA is effectively dead! However, we still have the Protect IP bill to worry about, so let's give it our all to take it down too!

It's not getting through. On the SLIM[/u][/i] chance that it makes t past both the House and the Senate, Obama will never allow it.

Proboards are now actively protesting now, it looks like.
[EDIT : Proboards doesn't look like it's protesting, but rather rallying support.]
