I know this is a bit of a heavy topic, but I'm curious, and asking I'm writing a research paper about it for English and I would like to know what you guys think: Do violent video games cause kids to go all psycho-killer?Personally, I think they don't, and my evidence is that studies on this are: - A) Looking specifically for even the smallest signs of correlation.
- B) Many of said studies are misinterpreting things, like they use a punching bag to gauge how violent games in turn lead to real-life violence.

Dammit, that sounds fun *jealous*
Not really. The thing about video games like Mortal Kombat or GTA is that they are really unrealistic, it's hard to imitate moves from games like that where it's super unrealistic. Yeah, some kids have gone and killed or assaulted people from what they saw in video games but these individuals are usually already a bit unstable.
Oh by the way, look up the Jamie Bulger Case, the murderers were inspired by violent movies rather than video games but it's still slightly related.

I think games have a strong influence are children. But so does Harry Potter books, Church, and EVERYTHING!
The people they have a negative effect on are using these games to fill holes in their live left by bad parenting, bullying, and various other things.
As every person will be effected by a book differently so will everyone be affected by violent or non-violent games differently.

Some say the same about drugs, on that note.
But really, if there's a violent videogame a child played, from there it's all just how it's influenced. If it's nurtured, then obviously it's going to turn out bad. If it's left alone with no violence, then obviously the kid's going to get over it.
