Overview:
Kyoki is a calm, wise Oni who doesn’t worry about his own safety, having proper belief in himself and his abilities. He believes that with constant, hard work that one will be able to do what they must in life, as well as being able to survive. By no means does he believe that one should be alone, but he doesn’t believe in doing things for others for the sole purpose of having a forced friendship that way. He believes that people should go into the world with the intention of meeting others, that connections and bonds will build the way to the future. He acts as a moral standing figure, one who will help anyone who needs it and give out advice to anyone who wants it. Sometimes he’ll comment and give it without being asked or sought for it, because that is his way. Due to his age, his powers are weakening, but he is still a formidable Oni.

Henshin Sequence: Kyoki bangs his Onkaku against anything, causing it to reverberate. He lifts it to his forehead, forming his Oni mark. His body erupts into fire of white and violet, until he throws his arm aside and dispels it to reveal his Oni form.

  Fighting Style: Lightning bruiser, though he’s losing speed, he still has enough strength to be one.
  Weapons: Ongekibou Rekka drumsticks, Ongekikou Kaentsuzumi buckle
  Abilities: Increased strength, speed, resilience. He can use fire based attacks with his Ongekibou Rekka and can heal wounds while in Oni form.
  Finisher(s):
  • Ongeki Da Kaen Renda no Kata: While his Kaentsuzumi is attached to a large Makamou, Kyoki beats it 30 times rapidly with his Rekka. The Sound of Purification resonates through the Makmou's body, causing it to explode.
    
  • Ongeki Da Ikki Kasei no Kata: Kyoki beats the drum with the Rekka together hitting with them at the same time over and over.
    
  • Ongeki Da Gouka Renbu no Kata: Kyoki beats the Kaentsuzumi with the two together, then one, then two again, then with the other and so on.
    
  • Ongeki Da Mouka Dotou no Kata: Kyoki beats the Kaentsuzumi as hard as he can with one arm and then begins his normal two handed beat attack. This allows him to have an advantage when fighting the Makamou.

History

Kyoki was born to an unknown family and put up for adoption from the start of his life. He lived in an orphanage for five years, showing proficiency in drumming from an early age; being instinctual in it. An Oni came visiting one day, looking for those who might be able to become Oni, or want a better life (they were getting a bit desperate around this time for Oni). Shin was noticed, and adopted. He was told why, and he accepted, wanting to be a hero, since he enjoyed superhero games as well during his time at the orphanage, wanting to help people and save them.

He was trained by various taiko type Oni who retired soon after he grew to age twenty three, when it was about time for him to start taking a younger child for a trainee. This soon changed in practice, as he refused to put another young child through that. From that point on, this practice was abolished; as Kyoki was respected enough to have his word stand for something.

Kyoki kept aging and refused to give up or retire. He also refused to take on an apprentice, despite the foolishness of that. As he aged, he slowed, and began to be partnered with the young Amaki more often so that he could help her out a bit with his wisdom, and perhaps be reminded of his drive – not that he had forgotten it – by watching the younger Oni fight.

He’s currently stationed in Japan.

Anything Else: His salute is the same as Hibiki’s in the series: he holds up the pointer and middle fingers of his right hand, tucks the others in to be held down by his thumb, and lifts his hand up, twirling in counter-clockwise position around his forehead (usually to the right side, since it’s the right hand), coming back to the top, and flicking down/out.

He sat by the fire; the glowing embers being the only light in this dark night. He painted his Rekka’s body violet, making it feel more like an extension of his own body. He flipped one around his hand and held it up into the night sky, looking at the stars above, shining down towards him.

The end of the Rekka erupted into flames, burning brightly as a beacon as meaningful as any star; a beacon of hope for those who needed saving. Makamou. Rosutoni – those brethren whom had lost their way over the ages. Any being who tried to harm the people; Kyoki would be there. He was a man whom had given up his life for their saving.

They owed him nothing; he owed the Oni everything. He could have had a life like them, someday, but he chose otherwise. He chose this path of hardships, of honor; but the honor wasn’t important to him. The hardships didn’t matter to him. What mattered was that he was a savior for these people; he allowed them to live the lives he never had.

That’s what counted.
