She shot him a look-- it was move that was starting to become much more of a habit than she'd like to admit. It was really turning into a circus all around this case, wasn't it?
"I'll admit, this is the first time that I've ever been asked to break into prison." She said slowly. "I just hope that you've got a plan to get out as well, otherwise this is going to be the fastest parole on record. But then, I guess you never mentioned actually breaking into prison. Do you really think that they'll let you talk to this Kaido person?"
It was like a slap in the face, really. They'd finally found their lead, and now it was proving unrealistically tough to get to. Sheesh. You'd think they'd have earned a break by now.

"No, we'll go and visit, we won't break in," he said, "A proper visit." He was trying to assure her of that, to get her to come with him.

"Okay, you had me worried for a moment." He really had. Her nerves must have really been frayed if she was already leaping to the notions of jailbreaks. "When do we see him?"
By now, they'd reached the outside world and moved a safe distance away from the hostel. Jess stopped and turned to face him, wondering why he'd gotten her up and midnight instead of just coming by early the next morning. Surely they wouldn't let him see a prisoner at midnight... would they?

"Tomorrow, right away in the morning, before too many people are around. I came to tell you to meet me there at six AM," he told her, putting his hands in his pockets.

"Okay. So, what's the address?" And what was wrong with a phone call? She privately wondered.

He handed her a card, "Here," he said. He didn't know if she had a number.

Jess took the card, squinted at it with the aid of a dim street light, and then pocketed it. The place shouldn't be too hard to find. All she had to do was get in the same general area and then look for the big restricted area.
"Sure thing. I'll meet you there. Anything else I need to know?" She asked.

"No, just that you should wait for me before you go in. I'll be outside, waiting for you at the door. We'll have to lie about who you are, though, just in case." That's all he had to tell her.

"I kinda figured that one." The irony of the situation struck her. Here she was, lying about lying to herself. She sighed and bit her lip... not liking the situation that she was put in one bit. Finally, after a long moment she released her breath and shook her head.
"... which means that you're probably going to have to know the truth before you go sticking your neck out for me." Jess' gaze fell to the ground. Confession was always hard for her. "My name's not Laura or Croft. It's Jessica... Jessica Jane."
She waited to see if, by some strange chance, he was familiar with her name. She doubted it, but... what with everything going on, and him having her fingerprints, she also wouldn't be surprised by it.
"I've been on the run for several years now. I don't know quite from what. My parents were murdered by a group of dopants... and since then they've come after me from time to time. I'm pretty sure that the stateside cops want a word with me since I'm an eyewitness, but... the last time, not counting you, that I trusted a cop, he turned out to be dirty and almost killed me. That's... about the gist of it all. That's who I really am."

He remained silent for a few moments, regarding what she had said, and then he simply nodded.
"Laura, Jessica, whatever your name is, it doesn't matter to me. You didn't know if you could trust me, so you gave me a fake name. I understand that; I've done that. It means a lot to me, giving me your real name now. Thank you, Jessica."

Well, that was completely unexpected. She'd anticipated disgust or suspicion, but... blind acceptance? It fit with what she knew of Thoma, but still... Right. Gift horse. Mouth. Shut up.
Jess looked up slowly and then nodded. "You're welcome." She said.

He nodded to her, "I'll see you in the morning," he said, heading off.

"Yeah." Jess replied to his retreating figure. "Sure."
Assuming that he bothered to show at all or that he didn't call the cops down on her for that little stunt. But... she had a feeling that he'd play it straight. She'd just have to rely on that instinct. Jess turned and headed back towards her room. She needed to at least try to sleep tonight.

In the morning, Thoma waited outside of the prison where Kaito was being kept. He had explained to guards that he was waiting for an attorney to see a prisoner together, and as such, wasn't bothered - after he showed identification. He really hadn't wanted to, but he had no choice.

Jess was mildly arrived when she stepped off the bus and found Thoma standing there. The vehicle snorted neutrally and then pulled away, leaving her to her business. She stepped forward and approached Thoma, nodded in greeting.
Just to be on the safe side, she'd already preloaded her Gaia Memories into the Driver V3. It wasn't something that she normally did since it tended to hurt like heck to carry them around in side her, but it would do for the moment. At least they wouldn't find them on her should things go south.
"Yo." She said mildly as she came within earshot. "Well... here I am."
