Name: Jessica “Jess” Jane
Age: 20
Sex: Female
Nationality: North American
Occupation: Professional Fugitive
Species: Human
Celebrity Claim: Willa Holland
Hair color/style: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Description:
Jessica stands at an average five-foot-six, lacking the raw height and presence that would make her imposing. Her hair has a straight and stringy appearance to it, which slightly offsets her round face. Her blue eyes are slightly slanted. A firm, round nose breaks up the soft arc of her cheekbones and comes to a stop above a pair of slightly wide lips. The symmetry of her face is broken by a small mole on her left cheek. While in times past she might have tried to accentuate whatever cuteness she possessed with make-up, her recent occupation change has left her devoid of the funds such trinkets require. She now goes without such luxuries.
The clothing that fits her lanky frame is old and worn, but suits her purposes. An aged, gray hoodie shrouds her upper half, and with the aid of a fading baseball cap usually shields her face from view. Black gloves keep fingerprints from leaving her fingers. A pair of old gray slacks and tennis shoes complete her attire. Depending on the time of day and the circumstances involved, she may or may not be seen with an old yellow backpack that holds her few possessions. As all of this indicates, her attire is designed not to draw attention to herself. Most of it is long out of fashion, worn, and screams of 'hand-me-down'.
Despite her time outdoors, Jessica's attire tends to keep her skin mostly covered and therefore free from tanning. An assortment of scuffs and bruises come with her situation; although she's been fortunate enough to steal enough showers here and there to avoid any unflattering odors.
Rider Stuff
Name: Kamen Rider Jay
Henshin Device/Sequence: Jessica utilizes a pirated Memory Driver V3 to transform. While the device lacks the frills and flexibility of Skull or W's Driver, it is more than capable of getting the job done. The device resembles that used by The Museum's cronies, but, since this is an upgraded model, differs slightly. The Driver boasts two ports for Gaia Memory insertion, one on the top left of the Driver's buckle and the other on the top right. The first Memory is inserted on the right, while the second Gaia Memory is inserted on the left. While the Device retains a center port reminiscent of the Museum Drivers, the port has been altered slightly so that a regular Memory cannot be inserted. Jessica has no idea what that extra port is actually for.
Beneath the Memory Ports lie two silver switches that are used to toggle the active Memory. When the switch beneath the left port is pressed, then the right Memory is disengaged and the left Memory is activated and vice versa. This allows there to be seamless switching of forms and powers with minimal delay. It is fully possible to transform with only one Memory in the right slot, but, naturally, toggling will not work in such situations.
Forms:
- Form Name: Bluejay Form
Appearance: Bluejay Form is defined by its blue and white color scheme. The form starts with a pair of blue boots that run from foot to knee, with a yellow inset running from the ankle to the boot's top and then flaring about the knee in a wing-shaped pattern. Armor circles her thighs, blue on the outside and white on the inside, eventually meeting a black and gray belt complete with Memory Driver.
A white vest covers her stomach and rises up to meet the divided blue armor. Said armor covers her torso and shoulders, with the joints are highlighted by flexible yellow mesh, before dropping down into more blue and white armor that covers her upper arms. Blue gloves cover her arms, with yellow markings flaring along the sides of her arms and flourishing into wing-shaped pads over her elbows.
Attached to Bluejay's back are two mechanical wings that are heavily robotic and not at all natural. The joints and couplings are all formed of brilliant white parts, while the top casing and armor is formed of a blue alloy. The ending tip is replaced by what appears to be a gun barrel and a ruby crystal. The entire contraption is marked with yellow highlights.
A single blue scarf drops from BlueJay Form's neck, which is covered in white mesh. The helmet somehow manages to appear both birdlike and reminiscent of an insect at the same time. A brown guard sits over her mouth and nose, passing as a bill or mandibles, while a blue faceplate rises up over her forehead, sweeps over the back of her head, and flips up into a bluejay curl. Ruby 'eyes' sit in the middle of the plate, and yellow inserts sweep up from the eyes forming a pair of crude antenna. The rest of the helmet is solid white.
Transformation:
To activate her initial transformation, Jessica first presses her Gaia Memory's trigger, inserts the Memory into the Driver, and then thumbs both switches in unison. The Right Memory then immediately activates and initiates her transformation. To switch to the other Gaia Memory form, Jessica must simply hit the proper switch.
The Memory Driver V3 is also permanently bonded to her being and materializes around her on mental command. Jess has been unsuccessful at discovering a way to remove it and has long since learned to live with it.
Weapons and Abilities:
Gatling Wings (1): Bluejay's robotic wings can be used as an anti-gravity device to carry her aloft or allow flight. When utilized, a spread of energy sweeps from her back to the end of the arm, forming a transparent 'wing' that allows her to fly.
Gatling Wing (2): The Gatling Wing can also be utilized as an over-the-shoulder cannon. After a brief charge up period, the Gatling Wing will discharge a stream of plasma bursts at a rapid-fire rate. These cannons can be operated independently of each other and can fire at any angle.
Finisher(s):
Sonic Descent: When utilized, the Gatling Wings cause Jessica to streak skyward, placing her high above her target. A quartet of blasts are then fired towards said target. Afterward, Jessica immediately launches herself downward in a powerful kick that overtakes her energy blasts, coats her foot with them, and then impacts the target.
Gatling Blast: The Gatling Wings charge up for a moment and then unleashes a large spread of continuous energy that causes great damage to whatever it impacts. Due to the high chance of collateral damage with this move, Jessica rarely uses it. - Form Name: Redbird
Appearance: Whereas Bluejay Form utilizes the reliability of technology, Redbird boasts nothing but raw power. It's base appearance is far less streamlined than Bluejay's, as it has much more texture and intricacy to its armor. Redbird's crimson boots are tipped with bronze talons which extend over the toe of the boot, creating a set of claws. Silver detail work gives off the appearance of feather and muscle along the boot, and leads into a bisected kneepad filled in with red color.
Black body armor rises from her knees to chest, with silver highlighting and tron lines marking of muscle and plate separation. The Driver V3 circles her waist. Red and silver lines rise up her ribs, meeting a crimson chest plate that parts at the center and sweeps along her collar bones. Blood red orbs, tipped with bronze fangs, flare from her shoulders and act as protection, while twin crimson scarves drop along her back. A round protrusion extends from her back, pockmarked with vents all along its back.
Her arms follow the same motif as her legs, boasting crimson gloves and silver highlighting, but with one noticable difference. Each individual finger is tipped with a yellow talon; along each arm runs a long bronze-colored spike. At will, the spikes can be extended forward, running well past her hands to serve as swords or spears depending on the situation.
Transformation:
Like most forms powered by Gaia Memories, Jessica can switch into this form at will. All that is required is for her to hit the proper switch on her Driver and the change will immediately take place. Should Jessica decide to start with Redbird's form first, for whatever reason, all that is required is to insert the Redbird Memory into the right side of the Driver. Jessica tends not to do this as leading with the Redbird opens the door to muscle memory betraying her at a critical moment.
Weapons and Abilities:
Claw Fang: The claws on Redbird's boots give 'Rider Kick' a whole new name. Each kick now delivers a powerful slice that can sever metal with ease.
Talon Fang: When extended, the blades on Redbird's arms function as powerful makeshift swords. The sharpness of the blade is aided by the powerful strength of Redbird's base form, making them deadly in close quartered combat.
Red Drive: The pack on Redbird's back is for more than just show. When utilized, it allows Jessica to rocket about at high speeds.
Finisher(s):
Slices of Flurry: When Jessica hits the switch on the left side of her belt, she activates her Maximum Drive and engages the Red Drive. During this interval, Jessica likes to engage in a powerful round of repeated kicks that tear her opponent to shreds.
Impulsive Impact: A secondary Finisher used when Jessica doesn't have the room to get up to the proper speed needed to utilize Slices of Flurry. Instead a charge of energy is gathered into her right arm blade, which Jessica uses to stab her opponent, discharging the energy into them, and unleash a large explosion. - Form Name: Silver Eagle
Appearance: Just as the Silver Eagle form is a fusion of both the Bluejay and Redbird Memories, so is its appearance a cross between the two. The suit boasts brilliant silver armor that is highlighted with gold trim. Red tron lines mark off the separation of the plates and form a flexible mesh that allows freedom of movement.
Silver Eagle's boots sport the gold motif, with three prongs of silver racing up the front, and sides of the boots, culminating in a piece of armor that sits well over the knee. On the bottom of each boot rests a red gem, which functions similarly to the Gatling Wing, allowing for flight, or, if the need requires, energy blasts to be shot from her feet. The boots are not quite form-fitting, but blocky and armored, increasing the suit's size by a fair bit.
Silver decorated armor rests over her outer thighs, contrasting with a black bodysuit. The gray belt that supports her Driver remains unchanged, but leads up to a silver chestplate that is adorned with the red design of mirrored outstretched claws. Golden pauldrons extend over her shoulders, leading down into silver armor across her upper and lower arms. Gold trim decorates that armor, which is raised and molded around twin gun barrels that extend over the back of her hands.
A jetpack extends from her back, again composed of red, silver and gold. The base is silver with golden trim, while the actual jet nozzles are of fiery red. The nozzles are fully capable of extending and swiveling around, dropping over her shoulders and framing her helmet with powerful firearms.
Her helmet is the most insect-like by far. A dark gray mouthpiece drops across her jaw, while twin streaks of red jut from her helmet and extend out into blocky, angular, antenna. Silver highlighting circles the divisions of the helmet and the cold green eyes that rest in front of the helmet's plating.
Transformation: Since the Driver V3 was a prototype based off of the Double Driver, it included a 'half and half' function as well as its single-memory function. Unfortunately, due to The Museum withholding certain information about the way the Double Driver functions, the end results of the Driver V3 are... less than optimal. Rather than forming a new entity based upon the strengths of both memories, the Driver V3 instead attempts to take the two Memories and combine them into a single form. The end result being the Silver Eagle.
The Silver Eagle is a very unstable form, activated when Jessica presses both of her Driver switches as the same time. She has only successfully activated this form once at the cost of great personal injury. Actually using it in combat is beyond her. This is because, unbeknownst to her, there is another piece of the Driver that she must use to bring about the full power of the Driver V3: The Gaia Balancer. When the Gaia Balancer is placed within the Driver V3's center slot, then Silver Eagle Form can be safely accessed.
Weapons and Abilities:
Blaster Boots: The red gems set into the heel of Silver Eagle's boots are not just for show. Not only are they miniaturized versions of the same anti-gravity device that Bluejay Form has, but they are also capable of emitting energy projectiles when the need arises.
Rocket Boots: Six rockets are stored among Silver Eagle's legwear, hidden from initial sight due to the boot's bulk and plating. When the plating is allowed to slide aside, the missiles can be launched in unison or individually.
Wrist Gatlings: Twin guns are mounted to the armor of Silver Eagle's forearms. When activated, a sustained burst of rapid-fire power blasts from the armaments.
Sniper Jetpack: While the jetpack's primary use is as a flight stabilizer, the jet nozzles can swivel up and over Silver Eagle's shoulders. From this new perch they can act as a flame thrower or fire concentrated bursts of firepower at the opponent. Unlike the Gatling Wings, the cannons are only able to fire in a single, fixed direction.
Crystal Lazer: No Ultimate Form would be complete without Lazer Eye Beams. The green gems on Silver Eagle's helmet, denoting her eyes, are capable of firing lazers.
Finisher(s):
Sustained Impact: Jessica takes the Slices of Flurry and cranks it up to eleven. With the aid of the Blast Boots, Jessica comes down hard on the target and begins laying into it with a flurry of kicks. Each kick is punctuated by a blaster shot to the face courtesy of her heel blasters.
Hellfire Storm: What the Silver Eagle lacks in speed or power it more than makes up with firepower; and since pumping enemies full of ammunition is what the Silver Eagle does best, there's an entire finisher devoted to the concept. Jessica locks onto her target and unleashes her entire arsenal at once, turning whatever is around her target lock into a crater. The Department of Transportation loathes this attack.
Other Equipment:
- Only an old iPod that Jessica found abandoned in an alleyway.
Inside Stuff
Personality:
Having been on the run for a good long while, Jessica has mastered the art of surviving on her own and not sticking out in a crowd. She's good at keeping her head down and staying quiet so as not to draw attention to herself. This isn't by choice, it's just simply the role that life has handed to her. Deep inside, she'd rather be a normal girl who didn't have to constantly be looking over her shoulder; but since she values breathing over those fantasies, she ignores that feeling as much as possible.
Jessica is driven by a desire to find the truth behind her father's murder and the Memory Driver V3. She wants to know whether her father was the honest man that she remembers, who was really behind his murder, and how to shut them down. Keeping the Driver V3 out of her enemy's hands is just an added bonus.
Despite this, Jess hasn't forgotten her grief and heartache. As she bums around from place to place, attempting to stay one step ahead of her pursuers, she finds herself increasingly drawn into battle after battle to put things right. Usually she ends up joining the fray simply because if she doesn't shut the monster of the week down, then that monster will only end up creating more little girls like her. She wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Needless to say, long-term relationships are not a part of Jess' plans. Never knowing where her next meal is coming from, not having any sort of cash flow, and the lack of a permanent address tend to prevent her from having many dates. She's friendly enough, but would rather avoid pulling other people into the crosshairs that are targeting her.
Strengths:
- Jess has an excellent knowledge of herbal medicines and remedies. Unlike most people who boast this knowledge, Jess' remedies actually work.
- Her time on the road has made her increasingly resourceful with whatever comes her way and has taught her to fight dirty.
- Jess is very good at keeping her secret ID a secret.
Weaknesses:
- Cash flow. Jess has very little of it since she's effectively homeless.
- Related to the above, Jess is not above looting the bodies of those she defeated in combat. She considers it a 'finder's fee'.
- Paranoia runs strong in her veins, making her slower to trust and work with others than she'd otherwise like.
- Her father is a rather large berserk button for her, which is part of why she keeps her Rider ID separate from her civilian ID. It's an exploitable flaw if you're aware that she's Kamen Rider Jay.
- Given the firepower at her disposal, it's surprisingly easy to scare Jay into inaction. She's well aware of the potential for collateral damage (bullets don't stop just because you don't see them), making her liable to wait for a safer moment to strike-- even if she, herself, is at great personal risk.
History:
Jess wasn't always a homeless gal; it used to be that she held a rather stable life. While her family was by no means rich, her parents were leading biochemist scientists and their accomplishments left them financially secure. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and as she grew, it looked like she was set to follow in her parents footsteps.
When she turned fourteen, her parents accepted a research station in Asia, near the renowned town of Futo. Thus, Jess left the Windy City for the Windy City and took to learning the language and customs of Asia. Through the urging of her friends and school, she began studying medicine and herbal remedies. Unlike the shallow studies of most people, however, Jess took her studies a step farther and examined the origin of drugs, medicines, and the potential of each plant, leaving her with a large quantity of information on the uses of each leaf and root.
Two years later left Jess with a greater command of nature, but a much more sinister discovery to be made. It began one cold winter night as she and her parents were finishing dinner. As the chatter and jokes died down, Jess excused herself to run upstairs and print out a school report. The family's computer was located in the study, and so that was where Jess went. Upon attempting to print her report, she realized that the printer was out of paper. She began searching through the desk for more and made the mistake of pulling one drawer too many. Inside said drawer, a metal Driver and two Gaia Memories stared back at her.
Horrified, Jess ripped the Driver and Memories from the desk and shot downstairs to confront her parents about what she'd found. She knew what Gaia Memories were and how horrific they could be. If her parents were involved in them... she didn't know what she'd do. She never got the chance to find out.
No sooner did her parents discover her holding the Drivers than was the entire family assaulted by an assortment of Dopants. The creatures came through the walls and ceilings, tearing through the wood and metal like tissue paper. It became obvious right away that her parents knew a lot more about the situation than she did, and they immediately began attempting to barter and beg with the Dopants. When that proved not to be an option, her father ordered Jess to start running. Jess was far too terrified to disobey and took off running, not realizing that she still held the Driver and Memories.
The sounds of her parents screaming echoed over her shoulder as Jess vanished into the night. It wasn't easy to escape from the carnage. The Dopants were determined to hunt and exterminate her as well. But determination and desperation led to Jess utilizing the Driver and Memories in order to defend herself. Her first few battles went poorly, ending with none of her opponents stopped and her badly beaten, but she managed a rolling retreat until she was able to drop off their radar.
An attempt to then go to the police ended with disaster as the chief of police turned out to be a Dopant on the payroll and assaulted her. Jess utilized Redbird and fled.
With no one to turn to and not willing to trust anyone, Jess had no choice but to drop off the radar. She left her fashionable clothes behind and took up her regular, worn attire. At first, her attempts to blend in were clunky and prone to failure, but as time passed, she managed to master the art of being a bum. Handouts became more regular and she found all the right places to spend a night. Slowly she began to learn the art of hopping trains and trucks, enabling her to move from one town to the next.
Those skills turned out to be needed, as every so often, the Dopants caught up to her and initiated a battle. It soon became clear that she had a price on her head, and until she could get out from under it and figure out who was out for her, the best offense was a good defense... and the best defense was being on her own and lost in the big cities... Not that that has stopped her from smashing a monster every now and then.
At first, Jess mockingly named herself after the legends of the Kamen Riders, taking up the moniker of 'Kamen Rider Jay'-- unaware of the fact that there was already a 'J' in the club. That has failed to stop her thus far, however, from unintentionally doing the name proud.
Anything Else: From an RP-er's standpoint, Jess is intended to be a deconstruction of several themes common to Kamen Rider.
Sample RP:
"Hey, lady. This isn't some charity case... move on out of here."
A voice, rude by anyone's standards, pulled her from the land of dreams and back the dismal bleakness of reality. A low groan came from her throat. It wasn't the most eloquent of replies, but it was the best that her sleep-addled brain could do. Jess forced her eyes open. Light stabbed them. She winced.
"C'mon. I'm s'posed to be off the clock, and I can't do that until you're off this bus. Now move it." The voice persisted.
Jess managed a squint and realization of just where she was. Between her own efforts to get to her feet and the constant prodding of a less than helpful bus driver, she managed to stand and clatter out the vehicle's door. The cold night air hit her immediately, prompting her arms to pull her hoodie closer about her thin frame.
If nothing else, the wind helped her to wake up faster. With that waking came remembrance. That was right... That last Dopant had had enough cash in his wallet to pay for bus fare. Where the bus was going wasn't a big deal to her, just as long as put distance between herself and the sight of her last battle. The Dopants would be all over that place for a good long while, which meant that she needed to be someplace else.
She forced her eyes to focus on the sign hanging over the bus stop. The letters danced before her eyes, but refused to congeal into discernible shapes. Meh. No matter. Knowing where she was wouldn't change the fact that she was dog tired... judging from the moon, it had to be at least the middle of the night... and judging from the wind that ripped through her, it was way too cold to be out and about for no reason.
Like most bus stations, this one had little glass shelters that served to protect its passengers from the elements. The wind was a big element and she needed protection. It seemed like a logical enough arrangement. Jess stepped inside the little booth and breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn't perfect, but it'd have to do.
She chose a bench near the far wall and settled herself in for the night. After curling up, she closed her eyes and tried to drift back into a peaceful slumber. Tomorrow she could find out where she was and go from there. For now, sleep would do. That was how she lived now: one step at a time. It wasn't much, but it was a life.
Sleep, right. Jess closed her eyes and tried to still her mind and breathing. It was harder than she would have liked. The brief trudge from the bus to the shelter had prodded her mind and made it want to run. She didn't want her mind to run, it only brought up bad memories. She didn't want to remember about her parents. She wanted to crash for the night.
But that was the funny thing about life, you didn't always get what you want. Memories came unbidden to her mind as she tossed and turned on her little bench. Whoever had killed her parents was after her now. Why? What was it about the Driver V3 that was so valuable? She asked the question for the millionth time, and for the millionth time, found that she didn't have an answer.
It wasn't easy, trying to sleep with an empty stomach and a full mind. That was how the book went, right? Charlotte's Web. She used to read that one a lot... that line came from the book, right? Meh. Who cared? It wasn't helping her to sleep. The only thing that was going to help her to sleep was to clear her mind and relax. That was easier said than done when you were on a park bench, but she'd manage.
And manage she did. It wasn't easy, and it took longer than she would have liked, but, eventually, Jess managed to drop off to sleep. It was one of the few places that she could retreat to that gave her a measure of peace-- a place where she couldn't ask questions or drive herself batty. She was determined to make the most of it. After a while, she did...
