Many centuries ago, there lived two friends. One was an Alchemist known as Aion. the other, a sorceror by the name of Malachite. The two were great friends, near inseperable. Until one fateful day.
The king of their land called Aion to his side, for Aion was his most trusted advisor, and asked him a question: should science govern the world, or will magic dominate it. This decision threatened to divide Aion and Malachite, but Aion had seen the darkeness in Malachite's heart. Aion told the king that science should be favoured. The king agreed.
Malachite was furious and swore his revenge. In secret, he forged a powerful gauntlet that gave him unlimited power, along with several thousand other magical items for his secret army to use. Aion, on the other hand, used his knowledge of alchemy to fashion a yellow ring that could counter Malachite's magic.
Malachite and his army of wizards and witches marched on the king, who fought back. Slowly, the battle began to tip in Malachite's favour, until Aion showed up and duelled Malachite one-on-one. The friends fought for many hours until, finally, Aion overpowered Malachite. Because of their friendship, Aion did not kill Malachite. Instead, he forced him to watch as the world of science took over, and magic dwindled away. Aion hid Malachite's Hand in a secret location. His own yellow anti-magic ring was passed down through the generations.
But Malachite was not defeated yet.
One day, many centuries later, a man stumbled across the Book of Malachite, which gave the exact location of all his lost magical items. Malachite himself then trapped this man inside the Book of Malachite, but not before he drew maps and left clues for anyone else to discover.
This man, however, was probably the BIGGEST D&D nerd ever, and he left his clues and maps as live action role playing games. In order to truly find the artifacts, one had to dress up as a fictional character and go looking for them in a group. Initially, only 20 or so people did it, but as more and more "questers" took up the "game", they decided they needed to get organized. and so, the World Organization of Suburban Questers was born.
This is where you come in.
