The Raven, The Keys and the Government [Arthur]

[Arthur Ingram]

Arthur decided that if Section wanted to keep him alive he might as well be a little cheeky.
"Ohhhh this is just too good," He smirked "All that talk about how you kicked our ass in the war of independence (Which no one in the UK gives a sh*t about by the way). All that boasting about bailing us out in the world wars. And all those people saying America is the best country ever," He leaned in close to Vincent "But you still need a British rider to hold your own?"

He leaned back.
"Okay, fine, try the belt on, turn a key, see what happens," He said "Go on try it,"

[Ren Nakamura]

"We don't need a British Rider. We just need information," Vincent said, "And if you won't talk, we'll extract the information, forcefully."

A soldier came up with the Sonnet Driver and a Trigger Key. He flicked the key open and put it in, turning it, "Henshin," he said.

[Arthur Ingram]

"See, I learnt something while me and Ren were researching the belt" Arthur said addressing all of Section "The interesting thing about the Sonnet Driver, it'll only work on the latest in the direct Ingram bloodline, so even if my great-great-great-great grandfather was still alive he wouldn't be able to use it because I'm the youngest Ingram, likewise if I have a kid then I won't be able to use the belt but they will," He looked down at Vincent and then stuck his tongue out at him "It's just a theory but it explains why Hathaway are only targeting me and not my family, also why you're soldier there is standing there looking sheepish,"

[Section]

"Then we'll modify this," Vincent said, "We have the Keys, we have the Driver. We'll either find a way to reprogram the Driver, or we'll make a new Driver to go with the Keys. Either way, now that we know what you told us, we can kill you."

A soldier walked forward, holding a gun up.

"Kill them both," Vincent said, though he wanted to see responses, reactions, first.

[Arthur Ingram]

Oddly Arthur didn't seem to see this as the immediate problem.
"Modify?" He asked "It runs on clockwork! I don't think anyone except it's inventors know how it works, and they're dead," He looked at the soldier nearest him "... stand back mate, I have really high blood-pressure,"

[Section]

"You underestimate the resources that we have," Vincent said.

The man fired. Ren was unable to change forms due to the chains, it felt like. He managed to spawn his wings, considering they wouldn't be near the nullifying chains. A wing shot out to protect Arthur, just strong enough that the bullet didn't pierce it.

Ren screamed in pain as a result of taking the shot.

[Arthur Ingram]

"Hey!" Arthur shouted "Hey! You can't just kill us! You'll never get away with it!"

[Section]

"We are the arm of the government. We get away with what we want," Vincent hissed as the man continued to fire, but Ren continued to move his wings. One to protect himself, one to protect Arthur.

Vincent could have ordered otherwise. He enjoyed this suffering too much, though.

[Arthur Ingram]

"If you let him go then I'll give you the Caliban key!" Arthur shouted.

He really hoped this would work.

[Section]

"We don't desire it," Vincent said, "After both of you are executed, we'll get it anyway."

[Arthur Ingram]

"Really, where is it then?" He asked.

[Section]

"We'll find it. We have the power to do so. Rig up something using another Key to track down your hidden Key, or Keys. Unless it's with your things, which I would suspect. We'll find it, I assure you," Vincent said, his soldier having stopped firing.

[Arthur Ingram]

They were certainly competent. Mainly because he just made up the "Caliban key" on the spot. Arthur sighed and shook his head.
"Okay fine ..." He said, still trying to think of a way out "Hey, why do you need to kill us? Why can't you just employ us?"

[Section]

"Possibility of betrayal is the main point," Vincent stated, shaking his head, "The main reason? You're not American, either of you. We only use Americans to defend their own country."

[Arthur Ingram]

"Oh no, I think I know the real reason here," Arthur said, he had really, really, really hoped he'd never be in a situation where he had to play this card but, he never knew "It's because I'm black isn't it?"
