The Forest [OPEN]

[Hikari Rei]

The woman walked down the beaten path, her pack on her shoulders as she gave her surroundings a cursory check. Everything was quiet so far, on her way back to the city.

But a bad feeling nagged at her slightly as she turned the bend and eased her boots down the sloped incline, sitting her bag on a rock beside the fresh-water stream she had come to for water...and after splashing her face and hair a couple of times, she brought out her canteen and filled it back up.

She could hear the sounds of cars and motorcycles nearby, about a quarter of a kilometer away was a road that led to and from Tokyo, and she knew it well, but never traveled it directly.

(There's a good start, I suppose.)

Kyle had been depressed recently. Very depressed. And it showed. He was sitting by the river. Tossing twigs and stones into it's depths. He gave out a sigh and threw another twig into it with a splash. This had not been his week.

She saw it first...the twig coming down the stream...then she could hear it, a stone hitting the water at a precise angle. 'So I'm not alone.' she mused in thought, before finishing the fill-up of her canteen and putting it back, and shouldering her pack again before walking up stream in search of this subtle disturbance of nature.

Kyle was rapidly discovering that throwing small pieces of wood and stones into a river was not getting rid of his stress, if anything it was making it worse. Maybe shouting would help. He threw another stone into the water and slammed his hands onto the floor while just shouting "That-" He stopped when he noticed someone was walking towards him.

... Okay, nevermind then.

[Hikari Rei]

The woman crossed her arms, and just looked at him, "Having fun yet?" she said in a half-curious, half-teasing manner as she stood across the stream from him.

Kyle smiled back at her half-heartedly.
"Yeah, who needs video games when you can throw stuff into rivers" He laughed back.

[Hikari Rei]

"True I suppose, as long as you're not throwing trash in there." She replied, her arms still crossed, "What brings you out here?"

[K.W Cross]

Kyle paused and looked out over towards the road. He exhaled, looked back and then shrugged.
"I guess I just ... I guess I just want to be alone for a little," He said.

"Alone" wasn't the right way of saying it a better description would be that he wanted to be alone by choice and not because Nakida had run off again without telling him

~FYI: Nakida is Kyle's girlfriend, she's a Kamen Rider (although Cross doesn't know it) and she's played by Kaisu~ Cross

~Ah good to know. Also...just for this I suppose, I'll have a monster happen...but in the next couple of posts or something~

"I hope you find the sense of peace that you seek, and I will leave you to it." Rei said, with a short nod before turning like she was going to head on her way...

"Yeah ..." He mumbled "Thanks,"

Was it his fault? He wondered, was he acting all clingy and jealous or something? He wasn't stopping her from going out or anything it was just that ... it was just that he wanted to know what she was doing and she refused to tell him. He sighed again and threw another rock into the pond.

And that was when he noticed he was crying ...

Rei looked back before she cleared the edge of his view, and saw him crying a bit. 'Hmm...more ails him than I thought.'

That's when an object in her jacket pulsed, and she could hear it, like a loud heart-beat. Turning back towards him, she saw what the Evoltruster was sensing...a small pack of normal-size Space Beasts, with a larger one behind them. One of them began to charge up an energy attack (think early episodes of Nexus if you've seen it), directed at the civilian.

In the space of five seconds, Rei had started to run back towards the stream, and had her Blast Shot in her hands, snapping off the first wave bolt that neutralized the shot directed at him.

Then she set the weapon again and fired at the Beast who had shot, and upon hitting it, the Beast turned a bright blue before completely dissipating, dissolved by it.

Kyle looked up like a rabbit in the headlights. What had just happened.
"Wh-what was that?" He asked.

[Hikari Rei]

Rei shook her head, she did not want others to get involved. Acting quickly, she moved behind a tree and took out her Evoltruster, and removed the upper half, from the lower half, extending it in front of her before holding it near her heart and thrusting it up into the air.

The Light activated, and soon a red ball of energy could be seen as it swooped across the stream and and defeated three of the Beasts completely. Their dissipation was swift, before the glowing red ball came to a stop, and reformed into a silver and grey, imposing yet subtly feminine figure at around six to seven feet tall, the Beasts also being around the same.

"Oh," Kyle murmured, should he be doing something? He didn't know what these things were ... maybe it'd be best to duck behind a wall and watch.

The silvery white eyes of the figure looked directly at him for a moment, as she elbowed a Beast that got too close, "Don't lose your light." the man would hear this in his mind, since Nexus couldn't "speak" per-se.

Then, Nexus held her hand over her heart, and shifted it back to the side with a battle cry as her form changed. Now sporting red with silver and grey patches, she side-kicked a second Beast backwards before bringing her right gauntlet across and resting it against her left gauntlet, the right hand now glowing with blue energy as she leaned forward, returning the right hand to its own side. She presented the blue energy forward before thrusting it into the air.

The circle of light appeared at the apex, and as it came down it became a dome, shimmering over and around the area in a gentle rain of light as the ground was also covered...the Space Beasts could only look in confusion as it continued its march...
