[The following thread is open, and Rose is needed for this thread as well. However, all of the other Shinkengers are needed for the finale of this thread, Karazu and Suzie will make appearances in flashbacks.]
Kasumi sat down in front of the bartender of a bar she frequented with Karazu before she met Kotoha. It was a perfectly respectable one, and the atmosphere is usually very friendly, with the occasional bar fight. Kasumi herself looked particularly miserable, and her eyes, which usually were warm and glittered with hope, were now cold and lonely... and it all had something to do with what had happened just yesterday...
Kasumi had just woken up in the room she shared with Kotoha. Unlike most nights, Kotoha wanted to play a few games, and watch a few movies before they went to bed, and Kasumi, always one to keep Kotoha happy, complied, the two having a rather enjoyable night together before saying their good nights... though she could have sworn Kotoha said something else before she drifted off. She gently shook Kotoha, trying to get her to wake up. "Kotoha..." she whispered quietly. "Wake up. We have a whole day ahead of us! We're visiting my job today, and I know you've been asking to see it!" She didn't get any response, something Kasumi found odd. "Kotoha...?" she said, shaking her again, taking her hand. It felt cold, and her eyes widened. "Kotoha... Come on... quit playing around..." she said, tears starting to form. "It's just a joke, right...? Kotoha, please... wake up...! Kotoha!!"
Kaoru walked into the room, hearing Kasumi's shouting. "Kasumi...? What's with the shouting...?" she asked her, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
Kasumi didn't respond, still trying to wake up Kotoha, and Kaoru went up to her to help... But it sunk in with Kaoru faster than it did Kasumi, and she slowly stood up. "Kasumi... she's gone..." she said, summoning the Kuroko to get Kotoha's lifeless body out of the room, despite the Samurai of Light's protests...
They held a quiet funeral for her hours later, attended by the entire house, and it was after that they learned of what happened. Kotoha had contracted the same illness that kept her sister from becoming a Shinkenger... and it was already starting to kill her. When she came back from her home, she only had a few more months left to live... Kasumi, unable to bear it, went to her room and cried, only then realizing what else Kotoha had told her the previous night:
"Good night... and goodbye..."
Kasumi sighed, and took a rather large sip of the beverage she had the bartender prepare for her. By this point, she had convinced herself that it was all some horrible nightmare, and that when she woke up, Kotoha would be in her arms, and everything would be all right. So she just continued to drink, not caring what it'd do to her... Even though, somewhere really deep down, she knew this wasn't a dream...
