Rider Stuff
Name: Kamen Rider Variable
Henshin Device/Sequence: Simon puts on the VRT Unit (Variable Rider Transformation Unit), a gun-metal gray belt with a card reader on the side, and a blank, gray surface on the front. He than uses the Initiation Card of his choice (Terrain, Forecast, or Solar), sliding it through the card reader on the belt, typically with a cry of “Showtime!” The blank surface than takes on a symbol matching the appropriate form, and Simon presses the symbol to trigger the transformation, often shouting “Henshin”. The suit than slides over him like goo, starting from the belt and coalescing into his armor and weaponry. The suit’s formation is accompanied by powerful arcs of electricity, which knock back and slightly injures anybody in contact with him - a fact he frequently takes advantage of.
[/li][li]Form Name: Urban Form
Appearance: Large, silver armor, with a wide profile. The shoulder-pads, oversized chest-plate, and oversized gauntlets give it the impression of being much larger than it is. The Concrete Crusher is strapped to his back. The symbol on his belt is a bulldozer.
Transformation: Perform the above sequence with the Terrain I-Card while standing in an urban area; alternatively, enter an urban area while in a Terrain I-Card form.
Weapons and Abilities: Simon’s most-used form, Urban form is physically enhanced, but it’s speed and reaction time are normal human level. It also has accesses to an advanced GPS unit that can locate any publicly known area in his current city, as well as any ‘unnatural’ occurrences. It also wields Concrete Crusher; a massive hammer capable of breaking through most building materials.
Finisher(s): The Riot Breaker, a powerful Kamen kick that begins by using the hilt of the Concrete Crusher as a vaulting pole, than enlarging the boot significantly just before impact.
[/li][li]Form Name: Overgrowth Form
Appearance: Sleek, forest green armor. The unarmored portions of the suit have green camouflage patterns on it. The armor itself is light and minimal, to maximize movement ability. the Woodsman is strapped to the belt. The symbol on his belt is a tree.
Transformation: Perform the transformation sequence with the Terrain I-Card while in a forest or similarly overgrown area (a public park usually counts); alternatively, enter an overgrown area while in a Terrain I-Card form.
Weapons and Abilities: Overgrowth Form has slight enhancements to physical strength, and it’s speed is well in excess of human normal. IT’s specialty, however, is stealth; it can enter a chameleon-like camouflage state, in which it is extremely difficult to detect with the naked eye. For weapons, it has the Woodsman, a short sword that can be converted to a rifle for distance attacks. Neither weapon is especially powerful, but both are very silent and useful weapons.
Finisher(s): Timber Chop; Variable leaps into the air, preparing for an overhead chop with the Woodsman. Just before impact, Variable vanishes, only to reappear and complete the attack from behind his foe.
[/li][li]Form Name: Aquatic Form
Appearance: Light blue armor. Equipped with small flippers on it’s feet, and what looks like a small, built-in combination scuba tank/jet-pack on it’s back, with the Fisherman strapped to the side of it. The symbol on his belt is a fish
Transformation: Use the Terrain I-Card for transformation while fully or partially submerged in water, or when near an aquatic environment (ie by a lake or on a riverbed); alternatively, enter an aquatic environment while using the Terrain I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: Variable Aquatic Form can stay completely submerged for up to three hours, and posses it’s normal range of movement and strength while submerged. It possess a sonar with a range of thirty feet, and a propulsion unit that propels it at approximately the same speed as a motorboat. It’s physical abilities are slightly above human normal. It also posses the Fisherman, a harpoon gun with nearly unlimited range while submerged.
Finisher(s): Liner Kick; Variable ‘hooks’ his foe with the Fisherman, than retracts the line connecting the harpoon to the gun. Variable and the foe are drawn towards each other, and Variable finishes the foe with a Kamen Kick.
[/li][li]Form Name: Blazing Form
Appearance: Bright red armor, with orange fringing. Oversized gauntlets with small vents around the wrist, and similar vents around the ankles and larger ones on either side of the neck. The neck-vents occasionally vent steam and small bursts of fire when Variable prepares to attack. The symbol on his belt is a flame.
Transformation: Use the Forecast I-Card in direct sunlight, and/or in a particularly warm environment; alternatively, enter direct sunlight or a warm environment while using the the Forecast I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: A relatively powerful form, Blazing Form has enhanced speed and strength. Furthermore, it can cover it’s hands or feet in flame briefly for fire-enhanced punches or kicks, or launch fireballs. The leg-vents can be used to enhance jumping ability with a burst of flame. As the heat in the area increases, so does Blazing Form’s power. Blazing Form possess no weapons.
Finisher(s): Burning Tornado; using the vents as a booster, Variable spins about rapidly, expelling flame and shaping it into a cocoon around himself. He then launches himself at a foe, hitting him with a massively flame-enhanced Kamen Punch.

[/li][li]Form Name: Rainfall Form
Appearance: Cloudy silver-blue armor, with a small fin on the helmet. There are two longer fins attached the the wrists that can be used as blades. The symbol on his belt is a raindrop.
Transformation: Use the Forecast I-Card in the rain, a wet area, or under a cloudy sky; alternatively, enter a wet, rainy, or cloudy area while using the Forecast I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: Rainfall Form has enhanced speed and slightly enhanced strength, and becomes more powerful the wetter the immediate area becomes. Variable is also capable of turning immaterial in this form for about one second. While immaterial, Variable cannot be hurt by physical weapons, but also cannot attack and is still vulnerable to energy weapons. He has no weapons other than his arm blades.
Finisher(s): Deep Soak; Variable charges his enemy and turns immaterial just before impact, disappearing into his opponent. After a moment, Variable cuts his opponent in half from the inside, immersing from whatever’s left. (Due to this finishers lethality, it is rarely used except in dire situations, and only against ‘monsters’, or hostile non-humans.)

[/li][li]Form Name: Snowbound Form
Appearance: A silvery form in heavy armer, with fur trimming around the shoulders. A shimmering, silvery cape is attached to the furry fringe. The Snowstorm is strapped to his back. the symbol on the belt is a snowflake.
Transformation: Use the Forecast I-Card in snowy and/or cold environments; alternatively, enter a cold and/or snowy area while using the Forecast I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: Physically very strong, but with only slightly enhanced speed. Speed and strength increase in response to cold, and presence of snow increases power considerably. If Variable gets a good grip on a foe, he can drain their strength with numbing cold. Snowbound Form also comes with a large, powerful axe called the Snowstorm.
Finisher(s): Icebreaker; gripping the Snowstorm, Variable spins about several times and tosses the axe at a foe. Like a boomerang, the axe hits the foe multiple times, before returning to Variable. Variable leaps at the foe just before retrieving the weapon, grabbing the Snowstorm mid-leap and finishing the foe with a downward slash.

[/li][li]Form Name: Daybreak Form
Appearance: A bright, heavily armored figure with the appearance of a knight or paladin. The chest plate has a design of a large sun on it. The armor is golden with silver edging, and the belt has a symbol of the sun on it.
Transformation: Use the Solar I-Card while in a brightly lit area; alternatively, enter bright light while using the Solar I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: Daybreak Form is potentially Variable’s physically strongest form, but it’s strength is dependent on the amount of light in the area. Direct sunlight or bright spotlights generally work the best. Daybreak can also absorb sunlight to energize himself and temporarily stun enemies with a painfully bright flash. Daybreak Form also has a large broadsword, the Solar Edge, which can absorb strong light in the area and convert it to physical mass, essentially growing larger in response to light.
Finisher(s): Solar Flare; Variable raises his sword to the sky, pointing directly at the sun (even if he can’t see it; if the sun isn’t out and he’s just in a brightly lit area, he raises the sword straight up). All light in the area dims for a moment, even the sun itself; than Variable points his blade at an enemy and unleashes all that light energy in a beam of bright white energy.
[/li][li]Form Name: Nightfall
Appearance: A dark black suit with minimal armor, seemingly styled after a ninja. Gray lines trace over the arms and legs, and form a crescent moon on the chest. A crescent moon is also the symbol on the belt.
Transformation: Use the Solar I-Card while in a dark, unlit or heavily shaded area; alternatively, enter an unlit or shaded area while using the Solar I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: Potentially Variable’s fastest and most skilled form, Nightfall only reaches it’s full potential in the dark. Absolute darkness is best, but in a pinch any shadowy or very dimly lit area will do. Nightfall can move ‘though’ shadows, disappearing into the shadow and reemerging from any other connected shadow. He is also superhumanly agile and can contort and stretch his body as though it were elastic (though not to the extant of, say, Kamen Rider W using Luna; miner stretching only). Nightfall wields the Midnight Spear, a long spear that can grow even longer the darker the immediate area.
Finisher(s): Black Breaker; all the shadow and darkness in the area gathers up into the Midnight Spear, before shooting out as black bands that wrap around a foe and immobilize him. The spear than extends an impossible length, impaling the bound foe from a distance.
[/li][li]Form Name: Eclipse Form
Appearance: Gray armor, with orange edges and designs on the shoulders and chest. The armor is seemingly modeled after a lightly-armored samurai. The symbol on the belt is an eclipsed sun; that is, the sun shining around the edges of the moon in front of it.
Transformation: Use the Solar I-Card while in an area with a perfect or near-perfect balance of dark and light; alternatively, enter such an area while using the Solar I-Card.
Weapons and Abilities: The most difficult form to use and maintain due to it’s difficult condition, Eclipse Form is nonetheless Variables most powerful form, with both the strength of Daybreak Form and the speed of Nightfall Form. Eclipse form can stun enemies like Daybreak and stretch and contort like Nightfall but cannot access their weapons or other powers. It also wields a powerful rifle, known as the Twilight Shot, which shoots powerful energy beams.
Finisher(s): Twilight Ender; the Twilight Shot expands, transforming into an energy cannon that is wielded on Variable’s shoulder. A single shot from the Twilight Ender Cannon is enough to destroy nearly any foe; Simon regards this as his ultimate attack, and for good reason.

Other Equipment:
- The Variable Cycle, a motorcycle equipped for any terrain. It is capable of traveling on roads, mountains, rough or overgrown terrain, frozen ground, water, and underwater. Other than it’s remarkable versatility, however, it has no other special abilities.
- The three Initiation Cards, or I-Cards. Each one looks like an identity card that you'd use at any military installation, but instead of a name or picture, each card contains the symbol of each of the three forms it unlocks, and it's name in the background. The Terrain card is dark brown, with the name in black; the Forecast card is a powdery blue with the name in blue so dark it's nearly black; and the Solar card is bright yellow with the name in silver. Each of the cards has a magnetic strip for scanning into the VRT Unit.
Inside Stuff
Personality: In a word? Showoff. In more words? Simon loves being the center of attention. He’s egotistical and lazy, which probably comes from the fact that he leads a charmed life; he’s hardly ever had to work for anything, ever. Ever since becoming Kamen Rider Variable and joining Wild Space Corp, his ego has swollen even further, showing off and stealing credit at every opportunity. If not for the fact that he was both devastatingly charming and really, really good at his job, it’s likely he wouldn’t be tolerated. However, despite a swollen head, Simon’s heart is in the right place. He really does care about people, though he has trouble showing it, and regards his new job as defending people the best job he could ever have. He’s unflinchingly loyal, and too pig-headed to give up or surrender, even when he should. His teammates hate him, he loves himself, and everyone else goes either one way or the other. Love him, hate him, you sure as hell can’t ignore him - he’ll see to that.
Strengths:
- Charisma so powerful it’s nearly a physical force.
- Will never, ever betray his fellows, surrender, or give up.
- Almost disturbingly lucky.
- Highly intelligent and good at thinking on his feet.
- Physically, in near-perfect condition, and a talented athlete.
Weaknesses:
- Arrogant and egotistical. He doesn’t MEAN to value himself over others. He just sorta forgets not to.
- Showoff. He almost always goes for the flashiest, coolest-looking approach, and subtly is foreign to him. He also has a habit of stealing credit from his fellows.
- Inexperienced. Physically he’s in excellent condition, but his combat experience is limited to self-defense classes he took pre-Kamen Rider, and while he’s been practicing, he’s a bit inexperienced with Variable’s complex abilities.
- Stubborn to the point of stupidity. He’ll rarely concede a point, and he won’t back down from a fight, even if it means serious injury.
History:
Simon Everett has always led a charmed life. Since his birth, the laws of probability have bent over backwards to make his life easy. He coasted through school all the way through college, and got a degree in English before drifting about aimlessly, going from job to job without sticking with one for very long. Everything came easily to him, and, quite frankly, he was bored. So he asked the universe (figuratively) for something fun, and, as usual, it complied.
In the Research and Development department of Wild Space Corp, a group of researchers had just finished constructing their own Kamen Rider unit - the VRT Unit. Unfortunately, one of the researchers was a Shocker plant, and he escaped the building with the VRT Unit... only to run into lucky Simon.
Simon had taken self-defense classes, and he saw a man running from a building with a high-tech device while alarms were going off. He jumped to the obvious conclusion and took the man out with a simple karate throw. When he did so, the VRT Unit activated accidentally, it’s genetic recognition system scanning Simon and registering him as it’s user, attaching to him automatically.
The various researchers that followed the traitor outside had every intent of erasing the registration data, retrieving the unit, and sending Simon on his way. They would have, too, if the traitor’s contact - a small group of Kaijin - hadn’t arrived at precisely that point. Out of options, the researchers handed over the I-Cards and gave him a very brief explanation on how to operate the unit. Ten minutes and one amazing fight scene later, the Kaijin were defeated and Simon was being offered a full-time job working for Wild Space Corp. Enthusiastic at this new challenge, Simon accepted immediately.
Anything Else: Nothing comes to mind.
Sample RP:
“Booyah!” Simon cheered as the monster he’d been fighting crumpled up, defeated. Grinning broadly beneath his mask, he waved at the cheering public who had watched the fight. Okay, maybe he should’ve tried to evacuate them, or at least move the fight somewhere less crowded. But watching all those people watching him, cheering him on, rooting for him, well, you don’t give that kinda thing up too easy.
Almost by magic, a group of reporters manifested before him, pushing at each other to get an interview. Grinning broader still, Simon - no, Kamen Rider Variable, stay in character - approached the press. “Variable!” Called one reporter. “What motivates you to fight?”
Simon thought about that for a minute. It wouldn’t be right to say ‘to show off’ although that was partially true, so he gave them the other answer. Putting on his best ‘humble every-guy’ voice, he said “I don’t really think I have a choice. I have this power, and I’m obligated to use it. When I see all these people, cheering me on, rooting for me, I know I have to be a hero, for them.”
He almost laughed as this little bout of humility set off another round of cheers. People were so weird. The more you told them how unimportant and not-special you were, the more they treated you like the most important and special guy on Earth. As they should, of course. With a wave, he hopped on his Variable Cycle and zoomed off, laughing in his head the whole way. Now that he’d saved the public yet again, he figured, it was time to treat himself to some waffles. Mmm, waffles.
EDIT: Added the I-Cards to Equipment.
