"You don't have to like me if you don't want to. I'm not twisting your arm." Miu said shrugging. If he liked her, great. If he didn't, well that doesn't mean she was going to treat him coldly. "The one thing we have in common, for the moment, is wanting Yui-chan to be happy."

Miu's eyes narrowed at him, "Careful with your words, Retsu." she said that with no hint of any positive emotion, and only a little hint of negative. "I've had bad experiences with men, so how about you explain to me why it's "not entirely" the case before I accidentally give you a piece of my mind?"

"...not Retsu." He looked at his hands, no emotion crossing his face as he did so. He shook his head, "I don't deserve to be Yui-sama's bodyguard, not anymore. Maybe now that she has a friend like you...I can accept that."

Here I was beginning to get a little respect for you, but nooo..." she trailed off, grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and lightly pushing him into the wall, so to not draw a lot of attention. "What aren't you telling me?"

"I have too much blood on my hands to go by that name...," he told her. He looked up at her, "I've gotten used to calling myself by this title, but I couldn't lose my name, because there would be nobody to protect Yui-sama. Now there's you. For what good is a bodyguard who is also Kingslayer?"

"I slew her father; the king," he told her softly, "The man who made me her bodyguard. I had to, as nobody else would, nobody else who would could get close enough to him. It was the only way to save Yui-sama. He was going to sacrifice her to Zangyack personally in order to save his own life. Some Action Commander or another needed a specific type of person for a sacrifice, and Yui-sama was the only one who fit.
"I killed him to protect her. Few knew of the deal. I escaped with her, and I always knew Zangyack would destroy the planet anyway. They had done it enough in the past; taken their end of the deal, and destroyed the planet. I didn't want Yui-sama to have a death at Zangyack's hands as an experiment, so I did what I had to."
He ignored her comment about redemption. There was no redemption for him.

"That was cruel...of him." Miu said softly, taking in this information. One thing was for sure...she couldn't tell Yui...not now...."So then..." Miu said, letting go of him, crossing her arms, "You took a life to spare a life...what's with the change of heart now?" she asked, in reference to his not wanting to guard her anymore.
